Swords and Old People Don't Mix

The Sword and the Granny

Hey Gang,

I didn’t want to make you guys wait any longer than you already have to read new pages, so here’s a lettered black and white page.  Updated color pages coming soon!  I promise!

I had a bad case of the flu over the holidays, but things are getting back on track, I want to thank everyone who keeps coming back to the website for sticking with us while you wait for these meager updates.  I really appreciate all of your support and hanging in there with me while I get this comic back on track.

All the best, and have great New Year!

Judo: An elderly person’s natural weakness!!! That and Werther’s Originals…

Hey Gang,

I’m still working on finishing up the linework for the rest of this story before I get into coloring these pages, but I didn’t want to keep you waiting so here is a black and white lettered page for you to read in the mean time.

Not too much is left of the story to finish illustrating, so I should have some finished colored pages for you to check out soon.

King just got punched by a granny!

Hey Gang,

Before I head to the east coast next week for the New York Comic Con and the release party for the Once Upon a Time Machine anthology at Locust Moon Comics in Philly, I figured I would post up one more lettered page of King of the Unknown linework for you to read.  And if you’re at the New York Comic Con next week, stop on by and say “hi” to the other fine folks who worked on the Once Upon a Time Machine anthology at the Dark Horse Comics booth and in artist alley – TABLE X6.  They’ll be selling a print of my artwork from the book! And if you can find me there at the table, I’ll have some more prints on me to sell, too!  It’s an extremely limited run of prints though, so get them while you can!

Hey Gang,
I’m busy trying to get a readable version of this first King of the Unknown story done for the New York Comic Con next month, but I didn’t want to leave you hanging waiting to read new pages so I figured I would at least post the black and white lettered versions of the story while you wait for the colored pages to start posting again towards the end of October. If you haven’t been following along at the King of the Unknown Facebook page, I’ve already started doing this over there, so it might be a good idea to sign up for that as well so you don’t miss anything.

Thanks for sticking around everyone, I have big things planned for the King and his crew so please stay tuned!

God Save the King!

Hey Gang,

Some bad news at KotU HQ here: I was told last week that I have until September 15th to find a new host for the King, because the guy who’s doing it now is packing in his server hosting services (which sucks, because I was already paid up into like March and he can’t refund my money).

To make matters worse, pretty much all of my cash right now is tied up in getting my butt out to the New York Comic Con in October to help promote the Once Upon a Time Machine anthology that I did some artwork for. So money to find a new host right now is extremely hard to come by. As much as it pains me to do so, and I reeeaaaally didn’t want it to come to this, I’m going to have to reach out for help from you the audience and start up a donation drive to save the King and keep the website active.

Any amount donated is greatly appreciated, but for those who donate 10 dollars or more, you’ll get a King of the Unknown sketch with your character of choice (except Vinny, because he would take forever and I can’t really replicate his face without the aid of a computer). Right now I’m looking at going to Liquidweb for the new host. At 15 dollars a month, I wouldn’t have to raise too much in donations to keep the site afloat, but I’d like to raise enough to keep the site up for at least the next 6 months.

So there it is. The King is in trouble and needs your help! I know his adventures haven’t been updating as regularly as they used to lately, but he won’t have any more adventures if this website goes down. Let’s not let that happen. If you have been enjoying this comic, then please spread the word; and if you can manage it, go ahead and donate what you can by clicking on the “Please Donate!” button on the right side of the screen (which takes you straight to a Paypal donation screen, very easy). Again, any amount will be hugely appreciated, and remember, if you can donate 10 dollars or more you’ll snag a King of the Unknown sketch in the process.

Thanks to everyone who has supported the comic up to this point and gotten the word out on it. Let’s keep it going! Evil forces of supernatural proportions are afoot and the world needs the King to stop them!
