Little Nemo: Dream Another Dream

Hey Gang!  I should have some King of the Unknown news for you soon, but in the mean time I have some info on another project you might enjoy. The fine folks at Locust Moon Comics are at it again, this time with Little Nemo: Dream Another Dream. They have a Kickstarter going on for the project right now that features some pretty mind blowing talent on the book (and surprisingly me…not sure how I managed to sneak on there, but I’m pretty stoked to be a part of this project). Throw your money at them to get your hands on what is surely going to be the most beautiful comic you see all year and head on over to their Kickstarter.

Gutter King

Hey Gang!

Yeah, I know it’s been a while since I posted a new King of the Unknown page on here (there’s a good reason for that, trust me), but for now if you’re looking for a webcomic fix that has some of my artwork then may I suggest checking out the latest strip over at the Gutters?

I’ve done a strip for the fine folks over at the Gutters before, but this one was extra fun since it dealt with the new Big Hero 6 trailer which I really dug.  There may also be a guest appearance by a certain yellow Pixar robot too, so definitely go give it a look.

The Confectioners

This isn’t exactly King of the Unknown related, but I figured I would post this up so you guys would at least know what I’ve been up to lately and what’s been payin’ the bills (sadly, King of the Unknown does not :-( ).

I was commissioned by writer Marta Tanrikulu to do the artwork (linework, colors, and lettering) for a short story idea she had for a comic about two feuding candy moguls called “The Confectioners”.  It was a fun story and reminded me of something you would find in a Disney or Pixar film, so I tapped into my inner Disney on this one and had a blast with it.

Even though I was commissioned to create the artwork for this story, it currently has no home at a publisher (though there is some interest in it).  So if there’s anyone (as in publishers) out there reading this that has any interest in the story themselves, then please contact me and I will put you in touch with Marta.  I think it would be a wonderful addition to any type of anthology comics out there that focus on short stories, and its all-ages storytelling makes it accessible to a wide audience, so don’t be a stranger and send me an e-mail if you’re interested (at which point I can also send you the lettered version to read as well).

Until then, enjoy the artwork from these pages and I will be back to posting more King of the Unknown very soon too!  -Marcus

I suck.

Yikes! Hey Gang, sorry there hasn’t been any posts, comics, or so much as a “howdy do” in the ghetto that is King of the Unknown central here for the past couple of months.

It’s a lame excuse but I’ve been busy between doing contract work for a video game studio, the craziness that comes with the holidays, and moving from northern Illinois down to the big city of Chicago.

It’s a new year now though, and I not only plan on getting back to King of the Unknown, but also getting more comic work out there in general as well. I plan on having a big year and want to put so much comic stuff out there that you’ll hopefully forget the anemic comic year I had in 2013. So let’s put last year in the rear view mirror, and look forward to 2014 and the possibilities that it holds.

Make sure to check out the King of the Unknown website, and the Facebook and Twitter pages for updates on everything KotU as well as my other funny book endeavors, and I promise I will be making more of an effort this year to flood the interwebs and the world with my scribblings and rantings!
